I can’t believe it’s been a year since meeting little Caleb. I did this newborn session in Caleb’s room with his mom and dad looking on with admiration. What I remember about Caleb’s session is that his parents were amazing people. Caleb was not in the mood for a photoshoot. He was not having it, and in those situations it can make parents feel stressed, upset, angry, impatient, or even want to cry out of frustration. BUT, not Caleb’s mom and dad. They were so gracious and did everything they could to make him comfortable. We ended up doing two sessions to get the photos. This is another reason I suggest doing newborn sessions at the family’s home. It really made things a little easier. What I want people to understand when booking a newborn session is that these are the most unpredictable sessions a photographer can do. If your baby gets upset, I have no problem waiting a little bit for the parents to try and get them comfortable again by feeding them, rocking them, or trying to sooth them. If things don’t turn out the way you were hoping the first time due to things out of your control you can always set up another time to get those precious images you’re dreaming of.
